Bourgogne Rouge, Fanny Sabre

Bourgogne Rouge, Fanny Sabre

Burgundy, France - Red Wine - Pinot Noir - Natural and Organic - Light Body

Bourgogne rouge is the entry-level in the Burgundy classification. It means grapes can come from different villages and places and be blended. Therefore, these wines do not have a sense of place. Instead, they are the best example of what winemakers are all about. We like this appellation because the wines are generally more fun and approachable. Here you will sense all of the finesse, natural and refined style of Fanny Sabre with so much crunchy character and extreme drinkability.

TASTING NOTE

The Bourgogne rouge delivers notes of spiced cherries, pomegranate juice, wild strawberries, red currants, nutmeg, moss, oak leaves, and potpourri. It is light-to-medium-bodied with fresh acidity — perfect tension between the sourness and refreshing red fruits and berries and the natural acidity framing the wine. Crunchy, fruity, and highly playful, it has this silky texture and floral edge that makes pinot noirs so enjoyable, yet it has texture and body that coats your palate. The finish is fruity and succulent. It is a wine that is hard to resist.

ABOUT THE WINERY

Fanny Sabre is a rising star in Burgundy. Not only does she produce wines with great drinkability and a sense of terroirs, but she also does it in a modern and refreshing way. The impressive point is her capability to deliver consistent, excellent quality pinot noir and chardonnay from the lower appellations such as Bourgogne up to precise, crafted, complex terroir-driven wines in famous appellations like Pommard and Meursault. All wines are produced in a natural way, with no external intrants, pure respect for the grapes, and constant attention to the vineyard and its ecosystem to provide the best fruits possible. We love her wines for their crunchy character, great drinkability, excellent quality vintage after vintage, and the positive energy she brings to a classical region that is Burgundy.

Food Pairing

Cold cuts, white meats ( grilled or with sauces ), grilled red meats such as duck and beef. Don’t go for lamb or game. It would overwhelm the wine a tad. It can take a bit of spice, but it excels in balanced dishes. Excellent with French, Cantonese, Shanghainese, and Taiwanese cuisines.

Serving tips

Serve out of the fridge at around 8-10 degrees and let it warm up in the glass.

Recommendations

Buy 12 bottles. It is a go-to wine for a dinner party at home, so it goes out quickly. It’s also an all-season wine. Serve it slightly chiller during summer.
